Christian's Sea Cucumber Internship
Before I started my internship with UB ERI, I was working at an inn and beach resort as a waiter. Working in the tourism industry taught me that my true passion was in the outdoors. Therefore, when I saw the vacancy for this internship, I knew I had to apply for it. The day I received the call for the interview I quit my old job because I knew that I could get an opportunity to prove myself. Today, I am glad I quit because this internship is full of learning experiences that I hope never end.
The kind of work that I have done so far has been very satisfying. Throughout the past four months I have learnt a lot about the way sea cucumbers and shrimps are grown and harvested. This has increased my appreciation for both industries. Everyday there is something new to learn and try, and this motivates me to want to learn more.
This internship has helped me understand who I want to be in the future. It has also taught me how to be independent and responsible. Even though I have only been at the shrimp farm for a short period of time there are so many things that I have learnt and I hope the future continues to be filled with learning experiences of all sorts.
