Biography
Miguel Cal is a Wildlife Biologist at the University of Belize Environmental Research Institute (UB-ERI) with training in Natural Resources Management and hands-on experience in biodiversity monitoring, wildlife handling, and community engagement in Belize. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources Management from the University of Belize and has worked on camera trap deployment, species identification, and human–wildlife conflict outreach through his internship with Ya’xché Conservation Trust. Miguel also has experience in avian husbandry and wildlife rescue with Belize Bird Rescue, supporting the care, monitoring, and release of parrots, including endangered yellow-headed parrots, and is motivated to contribute to applied conservation research and field-based monitoring initiatives.
