As a proud graduate of the University of Belize, Galento has been working in marine conservation for Six years. He started his career as a student volunteer throughout his undergraduate degree and has since worked extensively with fishing communities and marine research. Further, he has had the opportunity to work extensively in sea cucumber (holothuria) larval culturing and a national blue carbon budget. He is now pursuing a Master’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in financial management. He believes that marine conservation should reflect a triple bottom line framework that considers first line stakeholders at the forefront of marine initiatives.
